Magically Delicious

It's that time of the month, Spunky Kitchen Witches!!! Our resident Kitchen Witch, Tricia, has contributed to this month's theme of Love with one of the most delicious desserts. When I tell you that Trish makes everything amazing I am not lying, from apps to dips to desserts and even cocktails, Tricia is magical in the kitchen.

In honor of spreading some love, indulging in self-love, or sharing some sweetness with your sweetheart, now is the perfect time to try out this pie - highly recommended for Valentine's Day. So if you want to sweep your new guy or girl off his/her feet, dazzle your twin flame with a romantic stay-at-home dinner & dessert, enjoy your children running around in circles due to a sugar high, or just want to sit home and watch Bridgerton (alone) and eat something amazingly indulgent - we have got you covered.

This Nutella "pie" recipe is super chocolatey, extremely decadent and will impress anyone -- and it's EASY! You can even make this gluten free by using no crust -- or use new gluten free OREOS and make your own!

Ingredients:

  • Prepared OREO brand pie crust (or you can make your own chocolate cookie pie crust

  • Raspberries or strawberries

  • Whipped Cream -- make it or in a can is just fine!

First layer/filling:

  • 16 oz. Mascarpone cheese - room temperature

  • 13 oz. of Nutella -- or about half of the big 26.6 oz jar

Second layer/filling:

  • 1 cup + 1 TBS of chocolate chips -- semisweet

  • 1 cup heavy cream (or heavy whipping cream)

  • 2 TBS butter

Directions: 1. Combine Nutella and mascarpone in a bowl, mix with a hand mixer until just combined. Place filling into crust, leaving about 1/8 of an inch from top of crust (for next layer of ganache). If you have extra filling, put in a bowl or small ramekin. Place in fridge while you make ganache. 2. Combine heavy cream and butter in a sauce pan. Heat on medium. While heating, add chocolate chips to a heat resistant bowl. As butter melts and cream just starts to boil, shut off heat. Pour cream mixture over the chocolate chips and leave it there for a few minutes (3 minutes or so). 3. Then, whisk the chocolate chips and cream until shiny and silky, with no lumps. Leave it again for another 5-8 minutes then pour over the top of the pie. If you have extra ganache, pour it on that extra little ramekin of filling (this is your special stash to try before you serve the pie). Let it settle for 5 minutes or so, then place it back in the fridge for at least 4 hours. 4. You can add some raspberries or strawberries to the top at this point, but make sure they are dried well. You can even design fruit in a heart shape for a special occasion. Or, serve with fruit on the side and whipped cream and everyone can customize! ENJOY & Happy Valentine's Day!

Spread the LOVE. Be the LOVE. Feel the LOVE.
